The situation

Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) was the most in demand product in response to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-2022. Governments, corporations, and individuals were scrambling to procure ample amounts of PPE to protect their employees and families. Most of the manufacturing was overseas, and with covid interrupting supply chains and shipping, there was a major shortage. 

The largest purchases of PPE were government agencies. They needed the supplies for first responders and their school systems. Since government procurement is open for public bidding, our client was able to get a number of contracts awarded to supply PPE to some of the nations largest public school systems. 

With tight timelines, supply chain issues, and lack of capital the government contractor was struggling trying to find a way to deliver. Since most government contracts get withdrawn and reissued to the next bidder in line if the deadline is missed, we knew we had to act fast. 

The solution

The solution here was three-fold. In a normal market, the client would be able to easily purchase and supply the required products. With all of the noise and distraction from the pandemic, this work was no easy task.

The success! 

The product was delivered ahead of schedule and we exceeded the expectations of the buyers. This set us up on a very short list to continue bidding on opportunities to keep supplying the school district with product. Together, with the Mrkt Growth team, the client was able to win orders for over 100,000 boxes of nitrile gloves, and millions of N95 masks.

    • The lack of PPE supply in the market against the demand required all hands on deck to source the quantity of supplies that were needed. 
    • A combination of investigative sourcing, social media, and existing relationships allowed us to find the products we needed, on time. 
  • Financing the inventory for resale to fulfill government contracts
    • This was the easy part. Because the goods were presold, Mrkt was able to establish a quick purchase order financing program to finance the purchase of inventory. 
  • Logistics
    • The Mrkt team found a team of local truckers that were able to commit to ontime deliveries as needed.
